How do I find the year of my W115

I know with the vin but I dont know which number tells the year HELP please.

look at the black plate on the door jamb it will say something like "03/74"

note that the jam has the month of manufacture and the year.
Anything built in July or later is considered part of the next model year.

^^^thanks for that link Panda, I checked it out and couldnt figure out how to find the year.

Also...my plates dont have the 03/74 number anywhere on them. If it makes a difference I think this car is older than seventies, the only vin plates I have are under the hood in the center of the radiator support and in the drivers door jam in the front just above the upper hinge.

The "chassis number" is 115.010 12-002187

The 10th character in your Mercedes' VIN tells you the model year, but it is to a code, psot the 10th character

220, at least thats all the trunk emblem and the vin plate say.

68-73 at least you can narrow it a bit
send the VIN to classic Mercedes web site, they can tell you year of birth from that number

Well I found another number, Model number:*220/8* could that mean anything?

well it means it is a 220, the /8 was added to any of the 115's built during or after 1968,
