CL 973 450SEL

http://tallahassee.craigslist.org/cto/1452431721.html

I don't have any affiliation with this guy, but it sounded interesting so I called. He doesn't know what he has, or what the real problems are, but he thinks it's got some fuel issues and it has some rot. got it from a dealer that brought it in on trade.

If anyone is interested, I'd be happy to go have a look.

I'm a diesel guy, so I don't know much about these, but I think it's not the 6.9, assuming he's got the year correct.

so I bought this car. 500.

it's a euro car, based on there being no 491 code and also the headlights w/ wipers - along with various german language literature. it's tough to get much history on these things with a 14 digit VIN

Congratulations, Euro cars are a good bit stronger then the US models. Let me know if you need FI parts, I have a few lying around. Is it a 350SEL or a 450SEL? 450SEL's have the vin begining with 116033

Matt...

Code 640 was incorrectly decoded by the Classic Center, it should just be "ALUMINIUM DISC WHEELS WITH RADIAL-PLY TIRES"; not the 15-hole rims for the W126 (which is also code 640 but 1990 and newer)

And I like code 835... kokomaten (cocomats!!)

Nice Find!!

Looks like a keeper!
Haven't seen too many of this vintage on the road around northern CA but have found far too many in the wrecking yards.I wish I had the money and space to save them
These were truly "state of the art" vehicles when new.I doubt you will be disappointed!

Yep thanks for the vid Matt... often times 116s are underrated or not praised enough.
I enjoyed my '74 a few years ago... the SELs are nice classic land yachts, MB style.

This is a true euro, US cars have similar bumpers but with overriders.
The floor on the drivers side have a common rust problem.
You are obviously also missing some carpet.
Car has no a/c from the factory, else it will have two dials (top and bottom).

Very nice looking car with lots of potential. Once you have it running right, you'll love it.
