Search Google or yahoo for "Porsche Dashboard Gauge Repair and Refurbishment"
Ignore that fact that it's for a Porsche, it's the same guts as your odo. I did not take the thing apart but instead used green Locktite. It's a wicking grade and will be drawn into the loose fit between the gear and shaft. I've done it twice and both repairs are still going strong. Michael

How odd. I got an email update that someone had posted to the forum after my post but I don't see it.
But yes, I did it on two separate cars. Michael

That was me. I was being a wise-acre. After I posted it seemed stupid so I removed the posting. (yeah, yeah, like THAT has ever stopped me before!)

70' 250C odometer
Thanks for the help, however none of the tips helped with the problem.
It turns out that an intermediate brass gear,- held in place with a screw was jammed up on its shaft and not allowing the odometer or trip meter to move. Taking out the trip meter tumblers enabled me to correct it after applying some good German profanities that came back to me from being stationed in Bavaria years ago. Just thought that I would reply to my own post, in case someone else ran into a similar snafu. |
