70 250C weird wires
Hey, I am the same novice trying to fix the odometer on my "new" rig, and appreciate all of the help.
2 things, While upside down and dizzy, I have discovered a strange "babyblue" wire near the top rear of the speedometer, it almost looks like a fiber optic, and seems to have nylon or similar material connecting it to the back of the cluster. It runs to the right under the dash and speaker. Any ideas? Also there is a tiny black switch on the bottom of the steering column, cant tell what the function might be, but I do see remnants of a Mercedes hood emblem wiring -( microswitch alarm perhaps?) Thanks, and happy maybe I will figure out a few gremlins today-it is Friday the 13th. |

the blue one is indeed a fiberoptic to light up some switches on the dash.
There shouldn't be any wiring on the hood ornament. -CTH |

The bars running along the sliders for temp and air flow are lit by that fiber optic. It's probably called a light pipe but fiber optic sounds way cooler.

The hood emblem wiring might have been a previous owners attempt at some sort of alarm to prevent the theft of the star. There was never any factory wiring going to the hood star.
