FIRE HAZARD-Fuel return valve
1970 250C Fuel return valve leaking. Not much luck looking through all of the forums and messages, evidently I have not been alone with this issue on the twin Zeniths. Just got the carbs in tune- runs GREAT, but afraid to drive her.
Any tips? ( besides getting Webers), plug the line?- does not sound advisable, sealing rings available? Thank you! |

with the passage of 40 years service the seal will be very stiff causing the leakage . i could not find a replacement so i had cut a new seal from a old fuel pump diaphragm . this i put behind the pin , effectively isolating it ,though in one position. one can use JB Bond . if you were to plug the pipe .it will stop the fuel return circulation, OK in winter but may cause vapor problems in summer due to lack of return fuel circulating and cooling.
