Vac advance for the M110

So, did anything ever have a plain old sensible vacuum ADVANCE
distributor for this motor? And application or part number or offer to
donate one would be swell.

I don't think the vacuum RETARD is the ideal solution at this
juncture in this old motors life. I think it could tolerate some
light load advance.

Thoughts?

My K-jetronic euro distributor has TWO vacumn lines going to it I assume one was for advance and clueless as to what the other was for. It's electronic ignition also. Maybe you can kill two birds with one stone and change to a later electronic distributor. IIRC the pickup is in the distributor no cam senosr is used. Don't know how if the k-jectronic advance curve will work on a carbed M110.

If it has two lines it's advance and retard, which I wouldn't totally object to if it was cheap enough. I don't know what sort of non-points pickup MB used off hand, I assume something magnetic. Wonder if it has centrifugal advance still, I could re-curve it I suppose.

I could crank trigger the damn thing and using timing maps in
a control box I guess, lot of work some something so simple though.

I need a factory parts catalog that includes euro stuff I guess.

What does your Vacuum retard do? On the M110 in the W123, it is only activated when at idle and AC on. If this is the same with the 114/115, then I wouldn't worry about it. Just leave it.

Same, it isn't that it's a problem so much as not having light throttle timing advance is. I've never seen a gas motor that did not respond well (as in better mpg) to a light throttle cruising advance in the timing. It's been one of the things I've wanted for this thing since I got it.
