Today I stocked up on 1500 and 2000 grit wet or dry sandpaper, and 3M buffing compound to go to work on the runs. I got done with most of the drivers side today. Here's pictures.

Mercedes-Benz vehicles always inspire unique beverage holding policies.

I'm here with Misty, one of the Tennessee Walkers while the Ferrier takes care of Reeba and Holly, the other two walkers.

Brooke and I took Wilma out for some exercise today after mounting the rear bumper. We probably put 100km on Wilma today. It's nice to finally begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel on this one. Here's a photo from Lake Holston. I still need to install the interior, and replace window gaskets. I'm starting the get the gremlins out now. The stumbling at a hot start is probably a combination of a tired fuel pump and a dirty fuel filter along with heat soak. The absence of a downshift which has been discussed ad nauseum might be caused by a balljointed rod on the drivers side of the transmission that works with the shift linkage and throttle linkage. I'll start on those once I've got more of the car put back together.

Hot start problems are notorious on D-Jet systems.
Some have said that it's related to the idle air valve or vapor lock or something else.
There is plenty of information on it.

Looking good though.

Turkey man, search my name and Graham in the SL forum and you will have evey bit of information you will ever need on the DJET
Mine is running perfectly after months of messing around. I will tell you this, once to sorted out , they perform very very well.
An exhaust gas analyzer is really a must for fine tuning

Your car looks great, pat yourself on the back and have a cold one ( or two)

I got a big ass box of parts in the mail today for 'ol Wilma (Many thanks Phil, sad to see you go). I'm gonna be installing the following;
-sunroof seals (all of them)
-upper/lower door seals on both sides
-front rear glass seals
-fuel filter
-tank strainer
and a couple of little odds and ends

I'd LOVE some help / advice on installing all that rubber. I'm gonna skunk around and see if I can find someone local to do most of the work on the front / rear glass, but I'm going to be present and helping the whole time. Anyone have any advice or instructions on these (expensive!!) rubber seals?

The upper and lower door / window seals and the sunroof seal I'm going to do myself. I'll need help from peaches on these. Please feel free to spell out their installation to me like an idiot, because I can be one
