Hello,
I also have an extra original VDO Mercedes Tack, out of a 6.3. These tacks are electronic and will not register correctly in a 6 cyl car. I had one of these units re-calibrated to read correctly in a 6cyl. I used it in my W114 sedan rally car years ago. In addition I have some extra instrument cluster housings which you can use or practice modifying for the tack. Some slight modifications required. If your other options do not pan out contact me ja17@att.net. Where did you ever find a sister who would sand your car in 12 degrees no less!

Hola again folks. I didn't get a whole lot of sanding done yesterday, because I made friends with a stray dog that walked right up and rolled over so I could pet her belly.
Here's some of the photo highlights, there's more pictures in the facebook album as well. Here's the sanding as of Day.... I've lost count already Wilma was thirsty. Mystery Fuse. Anyone know what fuse goes in the empty slot on the top right near the brake fluid res? Safety First kids. (Ma refers to my plastic bag of first aid stuff as "Obama's National Healthcare plan) -Not dragging politics into the forum here (I hate politics) just thought it might make someone else chuckle. Here's Wilma 'n Friends. In this photo; New Holland Tractor 1, New Holland Tractor 2, Chevy tow car (Refered to as "The Crayon" because if it were stolen my granddad would be as heartbroken as if he'd broken a crayola. You are permitted to be jealouse of my working Super Snooper LR. It's ok. Here's the stray who I returned to her owner at the end of the day. I wish I hadn't. Her and I became good friends. I fed her and made her a bed from my jacket. |

I absolutely LOVE restoration threads. I get to live vicariously through some guy I don't know, doing what I wished I could, on a car I'd like to have. Keep up the work. I'll be watching this closely.

Greg, no carbs in the kitchen today.
A W126 coupe grill (thx Jim), a W114 tail light for a neighbor, the FI tester for you, a couple, but no carbs. And this reminds me that I owe you some switches. Will get them from the garage "right now". Thx -CTH |

This sounds like it a joke but. A frend of mine own's a body shop. Well one night after work we where hanging out in garage and doing what comes naturally. When he gets this epoxy gun out.One thing lead to another 1hr later, we where at his frame rack.
I have welded lots before so I welded,he welded, and we glued .The metal tore before glue broke. no welding, no heat bending,no rusting inside at weld. A body shop should beable to help you.

No major news to report. The 60 Grit sanding is basically done except for some little areas which still need to be done. I'm picking out a MiG welder to put in the new patch panels. I've filled in any holes, and spot primed anywhere I've gone through to metal.
Questions, -Does anyone know a good way to get the rubberized crap off the floorboards inside the cabin? I'm using the old hammer/scraper routine, but unfortunately that technique sucks. -Does anyone have any experiance ordering from ADsitCO? They seem to have the best selection of parts from anyone I've looked at (except for fastlane and allparts express.) -Is there any way to access the "Fresh Air Vents" area under the back glass and inside the C pillar? I'm fearing great gobs of rust. |

A heat gun and scraper works on the interior insulation. Use paint thinner/mineral spirits, not reducer, for cleaning the small residue left and then a final clean up using a 50-50 denatured alcohol water mix.

Thank you sir!! I was scared to try anything else because all I could come up with was using a propane torch, which I didn't do because I'm pretty sure that stuff loves to catch on fire. I'll post pics after I try it and we'll see how it goes.

Sidenotes -Including purchase price, delivery, tires, and several tools and parts, I have less than $6,000 in good old Wilma. After saving for a LONG time, and selling three of my favorite rifles I was able to buy DeWalt electric (with cord) double cut metal sheers, and a Lincoln MiG welder yesterday. Said purchase added $717.54 to my Wilma expenses. After I sell my 1903 Springfield (serial 946,XXX) I'll be able to place an order from Adsitco.com for some gaskets and other stuff I need. Anyone wanna buy a springfield? I'd rather die before I part with my Canon AE-1 though, 35mm film is one of the few things I enjoy in life as much as a Mercedes. |
