Keep the money, you'll need it to buy good paint.

So, I was thinking that maybe I could use the extra house paint in my garage to paint my SL. I do have forest green that we used to paint the pipe fence. It should work since it is also made of metal. I'll do next week before winter is over and the bugs come back.
Wish me luck

If you're going to make *****y non-constructive posts please do it elsewhere, or if it bothers you so damned much then feel free to quit being a chump and send me a check for a paintjob that meets your standards. I'm going to go get my coffee Last edited by JiveTurkey; 02-24-2010 at 05:54 PM. |

Britton, that is blasphemy! Forest green is not a German color. Maybe "Black Forest green"?

Just a guess, but when you say things like "But you needed a little common sense knocked into you" or "I'm going to go get my coffee before I hunt you down and cave in your forehead with a tomahawk" after people have given you constructive advice, then what probably happens next is that people stop trying to help and start making fun of you.

Got quite a bit of work done today. I welded in a patch for the hole I cut in the nose. It took a while, as I ground the welds flat with my air die grinder and my compressor sucks. Or rather, it blows, albiet weakly. Here's pictures.
Primed and ready for filler. I didn't want to fuss with spraying with a gun and compressor today, so I just shot on some epoxy primer to keep flash rust at bay. More good news, I found a pretty good rust converter from Advance Autoparts. I'll write down the name when I'm back in the garage. Last edited by JiveTurkey; 02-24-2010 at 05:50 PM. |

Oh man, if you look closely you can see the myriad layers of repaints from back in Wilma's history. You can see a little bit of scorching on the front of the headlight bucket, but no warpage
Oh yeah, I cut the patch from the nose of the parts car, and brought it down to size with my bench grinder and some metal files. I shaped it with some pine, cut to match and later with a ball peen & dolly. I also forgot to take a "before" picture of the hole. Oh well. Last edited by JiveTurkey; 02-24-2010 at 05:54 PM. |

I have a hunch everyone will be drooling over Wilma's Enamel paint. Or laughing their asses off, either way, we'll be smiling and Commander Kegger will be present. |

I hope it turns out great. Where in eastern TN are you? (Generally speaking. I don't want your address or anything) I'm up through Knoxville and Johnson City area all the time and I will look for the car in the (hopefully) near future.
Kudos for trying something new to you. I've painted a few cars in my past and they turned out in varying degrees of success. Hopefully you will blow my attempts out of the water. |
