Question about trunklight

Hello-

In my 1973 280 the trunklight is burned out. I went to take it out but seems to be stuck. Any ideas on how to get it out?

If I assume that MB used the same lampholder on the 114/115 as on the slightly earlier 108/109, I would recommend unplugging the supply wire, remove the two phillips screws at the base and pull the entire lampholder/switch unit from the trunk-lid and into the open. If you've got a stuck bulb, there's precious little room around the bulb to work on it while in place. It should be a bayonet base bulb and the socket housing is black plastic. Try a little penetrating oil and carefully twist the bulb. Take a good look at the socket; I may be wrong but I think the material was ABS but might still cause binding of the bulb if the trunk was left open too long or someone stuffed a higher wattage bulb in it. If that is the case, you might cover the globe with a thin cloth, break it, and try the tedious task of extracting the remainder of the exposed base with needlenose pliers.

Hello All

I found out that the whole unit comes off. I was able to get the bulb out by using a pair of needle nose pliers. (without braking it)
