so it sounds like im Pulling the Motor. Well there goes my driveway for a bit. is there any way around it and if not just how difficult is it. I think i can pull it off I just have to prepare for it . One other question. Around how much do you think i will spend on the rebuild? just a ballpark estimate will put it in perspective
Aloha

Cylinders shouldn't look smooth, they should have visible cross-hatch marks. Obviously no up or down scoring, but the cross-hatching was still visible on my 4.5's engine when I put 3.5 heads on it at ~140k miles...

It went from 90 to 100 between the second and the third measurement but it was reading 155 at the first measurement. Are you sure your valves clearances are OK? I think they should be .10 mm for admission and .20 mm for exhaust.

this might sound dumb but could the valves being out of wack cause this problem with my compression?

So, Car had Blown Head-Gasket...?

Replaced gasket, got fed up, left car for some weeks....??

(During this time, The rings in affected cylinders prolly stuck, or slightly rusted in their grooves....)

You Could try the Brake-Fluid down the bores ploy....

50-100mL Brake-Fluid down each bore on a hot engine. Leave overnight. Turn starter to blow out excess.

Re-fit plugs and drive. Check compressions after a few miles....

OR---

An Old Trick that May work--And save you having to remove the motor--Its no good as it is anyway, so nothing much lost if it doesnt work....

Set up a system to allow you to give the engine Water-Injection, by using a spray-nozzle and the windscreen-washer bottle and pump.

Set up so the spray nozzle from a hand-spray bottle--the sort used for gardening-- is directed down the air-intake. alter the flow of water for around 3-4 Litres Per Hour, and mount the spray-nozzle so it Cannot possibly fall off into the air-intake....

Go for a 50 mile drive, and when the engine is up to full temperature, start the water-injection, and drive at a steady 50-70MPH with this running. Stop occasionally to check everything.

--This should get everything freed up again, It works with veggy gummed up diesels, so should help out in this case too.....

Nothing ventured, Nothing gained in a case like this....

When you've been involved with various Forums and Diesels, Veggy-Oil, BioDiesel for as long as I have, you hear the disasters and the effective cures for 'Orrible issues like this...Anything's worth a try before pulling the engine apart again!

Gasser and Diesel technology being so different, normally members from the Gasser owners dont look much as the Diesel forums!

I'm all for trying out what has worked for others in the past, and it could save the O/P much time and expense, or save a nice old M.B. from the jaws of the cruser....
