Hooray! Here's hoping it lasts longer than a month and you didn't overtighten your speedometer cable. haha

I hate to say it but my speedometer in the 76 300D is doing the same thing, only in freezing temps. Whats the fix? What needs to be lubed?

Happened to me many years ago on a '72 250. It started shrieking at the start of a trip and I certainly wasn't going to put up with that for 200 miles. So I got off the highway, pulled the cluster, unscrewed the cable and dipped a screwdriver-blade into the ATF in my power-steering reservoir. Applied the fluid to where the steel speedometer-shaft turns in the bronze bushing and never heard it squeal again.

Happy Motoring, Mark

I got a bottle of sewing machine oil today, i'll pull the speedo back out and and apply the oil at that bushing. Its about to get well below freezing first of the week(21 degress) and i'd like to not have to disconnect the speedometer.

JiveTurkey put oil in that same spot and I think it corrected his issue.
