W114 Fuel Tank Capacity

I tried searching but didn't find an answer: What size is the fuel tank in a W114 250? I think my fuel gauge is just reading low, but I don't want to find out I'm wrong the hard way.

I've been wondering the same thing. Mine recently seems to drop to R sooner than usual, and with out the reserve tank light coming on. Sure enough I filled up and it only took 13.5 gals. Next time I waited until the light actually came on, even though needle was into the R. It took 15, but I seem to remember it taking as much as 17 gals....?

I can look through my books in the glove box, it most likely says in there somewhere.

BTW if a 250 is a gas engine or a diesel?, I get really confused. mine is 280

I think it's 17.5 on my 250CE. I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure a larger tank from a later model will work. I've seen a few w114's that have the larger, 20 gallon tank installed.
