Vintage AMG badge

A seller on the local craigslist has a 70's AMG trunk emblem for sale.He wants 140$ for it!
I know these are a rarity but has he lost his mind on the price?

Authentic old school classic AMG trunk emblem from late 70's, early 80's. This is a heavy unpainted bronze piece, not a plastic reproduction. Very hard to find. First person to show up with $140 gets it. Local sales only, cash and carry. Email with phone# if interested. Thanks-

The badges were metal, but not bronze. As for price, there's probably a sucker . . . er, enthusiast . . . yeah, that's the ticket . . . who would probably buy it.

$140 is a bargain! It makes your car a vintage AMG that is worth thousands more than a plain Mercedes.

Just kidding... I could not resist!!

I am in the "sleeper" performance camp. If I am going to have a performance car that isn't a Porsche, I want it to be understated.

A few years ago I had a Volvo 240 sedan. I shoehorned a 5.0 HO FI motor and an AOD into that car. Rode it on stock wheels and tires, with stock period hubcaps. The motor was a new crate motor from Ford Racing and it moved along well. What a ride. Everyone heard a Mustang, but didn't know what was going on. Rust killed the car.

These pre-merger AMG badges are actually cast of brass and were finished in Chrome, Black or Gold. They are no longer available. Typically they have sold for $100-$150. Great finishing touch for the period correct AMG restoration project.

I nearly bought a 740 wagon with a 5.0 and the 5 speed. Guy wanted $11,000.00 for it since that's what the receipts totaled up to. I offered $3500 hand pissed him off. Later heard that it sold for $3800.
