i have one on my W114 and one on my W113. I suspect that the W108 would have one to pull a caravan behind it. Not sure where to get one now though.

I took one off my W111. Does anyone know if it would bolt up on the W108? I know the gas tank is the same. Are there any other considerations?

Yeah, the W110/W111 cars definitely have tow bars, not sure about W108, but I would assume so. I wouldn't mind a nice-fitting hitch for my W110 200D (not that I could tow a lot with it).

You might consider an aftermarket unit since you could then use a receiver hitch. As I recall the factory units from that time just had a fixed piece of steel coming out the back that had the ball welded on to it.

The disavantages to this were you could not change the size of the ball and it was always sticking out since the hitch part could not be removed.

In Mercedes defense, though, I need to point out that when judged by the standards of the day their unit was the best available.

I also have one off a W111 that I'd part with.

I'll snap some pictures of where it mounts in the morning for comparison...

European tow bars NEVER had removable balls. They were all one piece welded.

Check EPC. I think there is a part number and figure of a MB factory towbar.

But I would probably also go for an aftermarket US tow bar. More flexibility.
