w108 belts

I've searched threads and can't seem to find any pictorials or threads on how to replace fan belt and ac belt on a 1970 280 sel(108.019). I located the power steering tensioner but the other tensioners are not as obvious. Need to replace power steering belt also. Will look for my manual for details and hope someone here beats me to it.

Well I had to finally tackle the belts on my 1970 280 SEL. Power steering tensioner easy to loosen. I learned very quickly that there is one bolt that you will NOT loosen all the way out for such action will lead the bolt to make contact with the pulley. Power steering tensioner is attached to the bolt mentioned above. I then went on to loosen the fan belt and that belt was also pretty easy. Bolt sits at the top. The fan belt tension was released I can say it was easy. As for the alternator tensioner, oh man, I will refrain from using profanity but let me tell you that it was harder than anything. I could not even find the tensioner. I used a small mirror and a flash light and at last, there it was, right under the AC compressor. No room to turn. I quickly located a second bolt which was accessible from the bottom(13mm) and using the mirror I located the 17mm tensioner bolt. Had to remove the cover to the air filter housing. Learned very fast that with no special tools I was going to have a long date with the car. I finally loosened the tensioner. Removed all the belts, replaced all the belts and then tightened all tensioners. The following tools were used to replace the belt on the alternator.

1. shovel
2. sledge hammer
3. 13mm wrench (alternator)
4. 17mm short wrench.
5. 13mm socket with ratchet

Another job that I should of recorded and uploaded (youtube)

My next job will be dropping the front end of my 280 SEL. I will record it. This is not the first time I use a shovel.

I would have loved to see this. My p.s. belt squeaks. I made a video of my 'seafoam' experience but I never realized how horrible of a cameraman I was so I'll spare youtube and you guys.
