W123 front passenger window regulator
Somehow I don't think this left the factory this way.* Anyone have a picture of how the regulator is supposed to mount? The car is a '77 280E. |

Nah, the factory uses duct tape not electrical tape
is it like that on both sides?

I hope not! I just got the car yesterday. So far I've only repaired the booster vac hose and replaced the alt.
The passenger window was down about 2", so that is why I took that door card off. All the windows/central locking is non-functional, hopefully I'll get a chance to look at it this weekend. |

Wish I could help you but I have some issues with my rear windows also. I've also been pre-occupied with other issues/repairs but so far I've been very impressed with how simple and rebuildable these older benz's are.
Good luck! Tomorrow I go back to my horn and will probably take a look at my windows also. There's a lot of good info here...the search function is pretty helpful if you can be creative with words to search.

The bolts with the rubbers fit in the holes in the panel above the access port.
Check that the winder is in fact a mercedes item and not some other item . |

Good point...it could have been pulled out of anything.
I found a good microfiche website for parts that might be useful... http://www.auto-parts.spb.ru/

A company called Performance Products has 123 window regulators for sale and they have pictures posted of them on their site.
Whatever the case, it looks like you are going to need a new one. |
