Question HELP! none running 1966 230

I'm trying to sell this right now but If I can get it running I want to keep it for myself, Its getting harder and harder to let go of!

I dont know much about Mercedes and I'm new to this how forum thing but i need somebodys help that knows about these things. It turns over, but wont fire up, poored gas in the 2 carbs and it popped once or twice.

i think a carb rebuild would help, and it looks like someone replaced the cap and rotor, but cant be sure.

does anybody have any ideas on what would help or get this thing going? any tips would help, and I do have the chiltons and the service manual for it so i can look things up

Thank you!!!

Start with the basics.
Check the point gap and plug gap.
Make sure the timing is right.
Make sure your gas is fresh.

In addition, you must check to make sure the plug wires are in the correct order, that the cap has no carbon tracks, that the distributor is properly set to TDC.

When did it last run and what have you done since?

Take the valve cover off and rotate the engine until the notch on the camshaft spave at number one tower is aligned with the mark on the cam tower. Check the distributor body to make sure the rotor aligns with the notch in the body, the crank damper must also align with pointer on the block. Don't use gas use starting fluid, it comes in a spray can and is very effective. You will also need a remote starter, which is nothing more than a pushbutton, two wires and clamps to energize the starter solenoid.

Remeber, you must always check the basics.

Do you have a Glenns or Chilton manual, or the BM CD?

Please report back
