W114/W115 Fan Switch ~ How do you remove it?

Hello Peaches,

I need some help. How do you remove the fan switch on the W114? We are having trouble with the air conditioning. We have to get the fan switch out and test it. All other systems seem to be energized and working. The only thing we can think of is the switch is bad.

Thank you in advance!

Jeffrey

Fan switch comes out with the control panel in the dash. If your only problem is the A/C blower does not work but the heater motor does, the problem won't be with the fan switch since it's used for both motors.

Hmm... The fan switch turns on and blows fresh air. But when the AC is turned on, no air comes out.

So... sounds like the heater motor is working. There is a changeover switch mounted to the LH side of the heater box above the gas pedal. It's operated by a vacuum diaphragm that also moves the door that closes off the fresh air supply. When rotating the A/C knob to the A/C position, that vacuum motor should move and shut off the fresh air. Also, it will operate the changeover switch so that the blower motor for the A/C will start to run and shutting off the heater blower on the firewall. All the other circuitry such as the fan switch and resistor pack is before the changeover switch and is common to both motors, so if the heater blower works normally, those are OK. Make sure the A/C blower motor is actually getting power when it should.
