'72 250C stumbles/smokes, why?
Hi, recently my 250C has started to stumble and smoke at idle, after I get it up to speed sometime the stumble will go away or is less noticeable, other times you can still tell its there. What would cause this? I originally thought maybe the spark plugs needed to be replaced, but why the smoke? Could it be the timing?
I just had it driving smoothly at 70mph and pull in the drive and no stumble, pulled in the garage and put into park....30 seconds later the car began to stumble and smoke. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks! -Curt

Sounds like a sticking carb float.

Black smoke? If so, you are running rich.
Blue? oil problem. White? head gasket. Pull your plugs and read them. Jim

Why does it happen intermittantly though? I dont think its the head gasket for that reason.
