Help with Wiper linkage for W110 230
I have discovered that the linkage arm that runs the drivers side has come off. I was able to press the arm back on to the male end (had to create a make shift press to fit in the limited space) and then I put a bit of jb weld
and a washer that I hoped, that I hoped would hold. I even pb blasted and lubed the wiper arm bolts, etc. But unfortunately, on the first try the linkage arm and my jb weld/washer parted ways...I have read all the reviews about the car being built around the wiper linkage. Does any body have a few tips to fix this, I really don't want to have to take the dash out. Thank you Bla8310 |

Is the part that comes off on the driver side, or is it on the passenger side (that connects to the driver side)?
I think that the driver side is riveted on, so you would have to re-rivet, or drill and thread it so a bolt and washer could be inserted. Hard to get at, I know. If it is popping off on the passenger side, then all you probably have to do is replace the rubber socket insert on the linkage. I'm not sure if these are still available. They MIGHT be part number A 110 987 02 41. It is a pain to remove the entire assembly. I don't think the dashboard necessarily has to come out, but I do remember that the heater box and defroster ducts needed to come out. I had to remove the heater controls and cables also. The 4 screws that attach the assembly to the firewall are accessible through the area where the defroster ducts used to be. Good luck. Hopefully you can be creative and make it work without having to take the assembly out!

Thanks for the heads up on the part, however the classic center does not
have the part any longer. I was able to press the linkage arm on again. I also was able to press is on further than my first attempt. I also was able to put a c-clip on it. Finally, I drilled a hole into the male end and got a screw with a washer to attach. I did put a bit of jb weld on the screw and am waiting on it to set up and then I will give it a try. I am crossing my fingers and I am also tired of squeezing under my dash and working on this thing. Bla8310 Chicago |
