Junkyard find 1968 250E

This is not my usual forum, but I tripped on something interesting today.
Found a 1968 250E in a yard today. The business is a junkyard beside a bodyshop, one brother is parts, other brother is body, the MB is in the body shop driveway.
Bad:
RF fender, F bumper, grill and rad missing, looks like hit in the RF corner, damaged (repairable) RR quarter panel.
Good:
quick look, rest of body is not bad, the one headlight is the euro type, manual trans, interior wouldn't make concourse, but could be cleaned to regional show decent, steel rims with wheel covers (all 4 there).

Would this be worth taking a harder look at, and talking some price over, or is it a run away screaming?

I do my own work, including paint when needed, but I don't have deep pockets.

I don't know how "rare" these are in "your neck of the woods", but down here, I would consider it a parts car. PICS always help the evaluation process though.

Here, the buckle on the rust belt as it were, anything not sitting on it's rusted out frame trying to become one with nature is "rare"!
And a euro 4 spd model piques my interest.
Seriously, I was just looking for an opinion about the car, and is it a nice enough model that an enthusiast might want to save one?

My friend could not sell a running 250S with original paint and no rust for $500 so I would say it is not worth the effort.

OK. Thanx for the input.

Crap - I'd be on that like white on rice. Does he still have it? Where's it at?

I's been my observation that there are always buyers for these old cars, just FINDING them is the thing. The odd's of a person wanting one that's within a couple hundred miles seem to be slim, gotta reach out to find them homes.

I tried to sell it for a month. Lots of interest but no one came through. A friend finally bought it.

When the time is right, I hope to find a rust-free (even if non-running) w108 to transplant my engine & trans into. It's nice to dream, it builds character :)

That 250se motor would be worth something to a 250SL owner (same motor). -CTH
