I've seen it done with a m116 V8 and the radiator was ahead of the support panel. The W110 Chassis is a 4" shorter than the W111 in the nose. It's a real hassle fitting a V8 into one. Note the water tank on the firewall? thats the header for the radiator which is Under the support panel.
i am looking for one if anyone has one .. ![]() |

Oh, I see.... though the fan on a 6 cyl and a V8 are at the same place in a W111 engine bay, I believe.
Strange they fitted a 6 cylinder in a W110 body when they had the W111 body... I saw these water tanks on Pagodas and my '72 BMW 3.0 CSI also has one (replaced by a platic one on later models). Try to see with the BMW crowd if they can get you one. |

yes, a really strange combination alright!.
To me,the W110's were all four cylinder cars with petrol or Diesel engines. ![]() |

I think an OM617 5 cylinder turbo diesel engine would be a good fit in there (if you relocated the oil tower and were really creative). It would have less chance of burning up, too. But, I think it would be worth trying to repair the original engine, though, unless you can get a 2.8 liter engine inexpensively.

if i could find any parts what so ever i would be happy. soo far im finding next to nothing. The carb closest to the firewall is most likely reusable. obviously the other is not. I still need an entire parts car pretty much...

I second the OM617. Look on craigslist for a rusted 300d.
Or a redblock. ![]()

Maybe I'm missing something here but why do you need a new motor? Seems like it's just the carbs and stuff that need replacing. The motor seems like it's just in need of a good cleanup no? A new hood and repaint and it shoudl be good to go.

No, you don't need a new motor. The heat wouldn't destroy the engine. You need to replace your carbs, hoses, wiring harness, etc. I think everyone is just making suggestions in case you'd want to replace the engine. You can still price a new harness from MB Classic. You might be surprised how inexpensive it is. I'd be glad to take it off your hands depending on the condition of the interior
