Talking NGK:1 Bosch:0 WOW (plugs)

I replaced my Bosch platinum plugs today with standard NGK plugs, and WOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE! the Bosch plugs didn't idle well at all, and I was worried my car would stall most times, and its was frustratingly intermittent. SLOW take offs from a dead stop, having to downshift because the stumble was SO bad. I had a hunch to replace the plugs.

best $27 I ever spent. Oh, btw...plug wires...NAPA stocked their jobber wires for $250 Lone star Parts, a locally owned store has a set of Beru for $97.

I've seen bosch plats do weird stuff in older cars before. I tend toward plain ole plugs for un-modern stuff.

Were those the +2/+4 plugs? I had a Saab 900 that didn't idle well on the +4's.

Yes, probably improvement more due to "standard" plugs vs Platinum than NGK vs Bosch.

I have used Bosch & NGK on my M117 with no noticeable difference.

I tried the Plats when they first were introduced,
stick with the old style
New is not necessarily better

They were just the platinum. When I took them out, they looked like they were burning properly...anyway, good riddance..

The Bosch plugs appeared to be burning well, I wonder what it is about them that causes the poor idle conditions...(see this thread)

I've put about 50K on the NGK's in my 300E. NGK = Bosch for the most part. Its about time for some new plugs though....

I also just saved myself $97 fonew wires! I remembered that I had a set of boots on the Djet donor engine I have and I took a look and they are in quite good shape so I swapped them with my two torn boots and it's made even more of difference!

I had a Volvo 740 Turbo and ran platinum plugs in the engine. It ran well but every once in a while I would drive 90 mph in 3rd gear. That did a good job cleaning the plugs.
