possible 450slc / 5.0. for sale in los angeles
no affiliation
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/cto/1828780391.html i have his phone#, but more importantly i have the vin, which will tell us something, if only some can decode it? wdb1070261200925 happy to be an intermediary - i know these are very rare, and that there are a lot of hustlers out there trying to pass off some fakes. p.s. cylinder #8, per the owner, has a spark plug loose inside, which, well, say no more, but he claims it has not been turned over since the "mechanic" dropped it inside - something about stripped out threads? anyway. thats all.

if the vin is real so is it
500SLC Rally Coup 1980-1981 V8 years made produced 107-026 chassis 1980-1981 2,769 (Created as Rally Version, initially labeled 450SLC-5.0 until 1979, then 500SLC) from http://northernresource.com/mercedes/107.htm right at the bottom of the page however they were only made in 1980 and 81 - not 79 so be careful in 79 they were the 450slc 5

I talked to the guy, a VIN ending in 925 is clearly a 79. Tonk, my fellow Vich, I am seriously considering driving down from SF to check out the car. However, I don't know the area at all. Do you know a good Benz shop to bring it in for an inspection? I'm OK with having the engine rebuilt, but if its completely utterly gone, not so sure. |

well he is in agua dulce, which is up past magic mountain, off the 14. i'm a little dense tonight, so clue me in, please. is it a scam?
anyway, mr. mb in tarzana is highly regarded here, even though i've never used him - my guy, ned at independent motors in tarzana, retired - but the towing is going to cost you - 30 miles? -and i think the engine is worse than he lets on. anyway, alibassi had several, and warmed me up to the beauty/power of these through his various posts, and i just thought i'd put it out there. (again, i have no affiliation. and no money ![]()
