Need Opinions: 1972 220d

Greetings

I am looking for opinions on the 1972 220d. Specifically as opposed to the 240d.

Thanks in advance

Pete

the 220D's had the smaller bumpers and pre-face lift styling. The 240D had the larger federalized bumpers. There is not much by way of power between the two and they both car rust like you won't believe so buy based on condition and nothing else.

Slower than a 240d.... If that was even possible, but it is.
Don't even think of racing an automatic VW campmobile filled with boy scouts. You will lose.

I wore out three of these.
Manuals aren't too bad, but autobox cars are painfully slow.
The W115 is a lovely chassis, though.

As mentioned, beware the rust.

Jim
