Help me identify hose, or lack of. Thanks

While looking through ebay yesterday, I saw some pics of engine bays of 280Cs 114 body. I noticed that all the pictures have a white or clear hose that extends from the front passenger to the middle driver's side by the carbs. I don't have this house. What is it?
Thanks

Surfed eBay, looked at 5 "rare" coupes. Saw some hoses.

My understanding is that some M110 engines had an engine driven vacuum pump mounted on or near a timing chain cover.

My '76 280C didn't.

Quite a few had the pump but it is for emissions control. it's a crap unit which doesn't last long and most were disconnected years ago.
