w108s and w109s for sale that I get in emails

From my site, I get about 1-2 108/109 cars a week on average for sale that people ask about or want to know if I'm interested in.

As I haven't had too much time to update my site, I can't throw them up there. Would anyone want me to put them in here? I can post whatever info I've been given, including pics if any were sent.

I used to get that before but i've neglected my site. The odd thing is that the people that contacted me seemed to think that because I maintained a website on these cars, this meant that I would immediately be interested in their project car for 10 times what it's worth.

For the most part, I would direct them to my W108 yahoo group.

Some of these are looking for value, having an estate sale etc; nobody's really come to me with absurdly priced cars.

Have you looked into that 6.3?

Tom

My brother was a collector and I am now in charge of selling off his estate. He has the noted car covered in his garage, was driven daily for years before the air bags failed. Has a 280SEL parts car same year very rough for trim? To be sold at his estate auction - or sooner - as a set with all the other parts and papers I am in the process of collecting together. Basic pics enclosed. Can not say it is running now, but you can see a very good condition car from the pictures. Is located less than 2 hours NW of Minneapolis in Balsam Lake, WI.

Any interest in the package? Any estimate of what it may be worth? I need to declare estate value as part of probate process to WI by 01NOV, and we are selling at auction by late SEP if no personal takers of interest, with means to transport.

Sorry for the long winded message. I can be reached home eves 952-442-5430 or cell days 612-998-6286 (poor coverage in the country area I live in). I copied this message to my home email address as well so you can reply all to keep in touch, as necessary.

Thanks in advance for any assistance or interest. If you know others in the Midwest perhaps closer to the car than you are please pass this message on to them.

Brett Schneider, executor

Thanks Tom for the reply - the air bag suspension is for sure not healthy, so I appreciate the comments on supporting the car during transport. Whoever gets it at the auction will need to know this.

Auction will be in late September, date to be confirmed next week. Let me know if you are interested in the details when I have them.

Hi Tom,

This is a very solid 6.3 and has been very well maintained over the years. You have to see it or inspect it in person to truly appreciate its condition. It has all the original documents and on the Mercedes service records it shows the history until 1990. It was serviced most of its life by Mercedes Benz. We have the original sales receipt from 1975 and from what we were told the car was owned first by the authorized Mercedes Benz dealership manager (Mr. E. Gant) for the first 4 years. It also was serviced by HATCH & Sons from MA until it was sold to Florida in 2010. This car has a very strong history and we are happy to present you this gorgeous 6.3 for sale.

The interior is red and very nice. The front driver seat is showing its age with some cracks in the leather. Other than this the leather is very nice and strong. The carpet is in excellent condition. The headliner is nice. The chrome is excellent, the paint is very nice as well.

Mechanic: Anyone will tell you that it is a very strong car. We recently did a valve adjustment and serviced the entire car. The front driver side air suspension air bag was replaced, the other 3 are still nice and strong. Two new window regulators were ordered for both front doors. The engine runs strong and was rebuild a few years ago at 80,000 miles. Since then the car has about 30,000 miles. Everything works except for the clock. The AC runs cold and all electrical is very good. Attached to this email please find several pictures.

Asking 27,500 OBO

Hello Tom,

I'm selling a 1969 280S W108 that has been in my family, since it was built. In fact, my parents picked it up in Stuttgart in 1969 and brought it over, and I have memories of falling asleep in the backseat on the way home from family outings in San Francisco, when I was a kid. So, it is with a heavy heart that I am forced to put it on the market now. The car is at my father's house in Los Gatos, California, and when I moved to Austin, TX, I would drive it, when I was in town. Now, the house is being sold, I have no place to put it, and the time has come for it to bring joy to someone else's life.
Many parts are new, or have been redone, but it's not perfect, which makes it an excellent vehicle for someone with the time and inclination to really fix it up!
For Starters, it has many new parts: kingpin bushings in the front, axle seals and center spring in the rear, fuel pump (electric conversion), sending unit, hoses and belts, water pump, thermostat, windshield wipers, all fluids and filters (including the cabin air intake filter), all brake pads and rotors.
Redone: Starter, alternator, carburetors, valves, piston rings and honed cylinders, ported head.
The car had about 245,000 miles on it, when I decided to refresh it in 1998. Since then, it has hardly been driven, so now has about 251,000 miles. It truly is a great car, and could really be phenomenal with a little extra work. Add to that shelves of parts that I have for it, and you are truly getting an awesome deal!

The best way to contact me is via this email address. I am an airline pilot, and while I do have a cell phone with me at all times, I am not always reachable on it. That number is: (REDACTED).

Thanks for your time, Dre

tom,
i forgot to add my asking price of $3450.00
sorry,
dre

Here's a gem!

Hello Tom,

I stumbled across your site while doing some research on my sisters car that she is trying to sell. Not knowing much about these particular vehicles, I must say your site was very informative and quite interesting, however, I am still quite unsure as to go about appraising this vehicle for sale.

The car is a 1965 Mercedez Benz 300SE with Air Suspension. It is a 2 door sedan in great condition. My sister acquired the vehicle a few years ago from the original owner. Since the purchase, the car has been parked in her garage and she has decided that she does not want to keep it any longer. She has asked me to help her sell the vehicle and this is why I am contacting you.

Attached are a few photos of the car in all its glory. I don't believe it has ever been in any major accident and it is in running condition. Also, the original owner gave her all the service records since the vehicle was purchased. There are no alterations of any kind on the car and it appears to be in its original state since it was purchased in 1965.

I was hoping you might lend some insight into what this vehicle might be worth and where you think i might be able to sell this car.

Thanks for your time,

Al
