Storing hydro compensator
I removed my hydro compensator while I reseal and detail my rear axle. It could be off the car for awhile. Is it OK to store it fully extended or does it matter? When it is on the car it is partially compressed. I know they go bad over time and I want to maximize it's life.
Thanks

Use silicone spray on the rubber boot and it will stay soft and supple.

Thanks Warren but I was more concerned about leaving the compensator rod fully extended. The boot and all rubber will be replaced.

I would suggest you compress it some. I recently acquired three hydromat compensator as part of the new old stock (NOS) in this thread. The boots on all three were quite soft and supple, but had torn open.
