Cluster Tach vs Technical Tach.

Is there a certain margin of error when it comes to what my Tach tells me as opposed to what the engine is really turning at?

Add a ground wire to the back of the cluster to the chassis, that could correct the incorrect reading on the tach.

your kidding right?

I'm not saying that my Tach IS inaccurate, just wondering if they can be.. I had the same response regarding a coolant temp gauge, hence my disbelief...

I was simply stating that poor cluster grounds can greatly affect the true reading of the tach, just like fuel and temp gauges.......

Yes, any time you get anything electrical acting goofy it is a good chance to be a ground problem. this was a notorious problem with the dash pods on the 115 chassis.
