Ignition Rejuvenation
Well, I think I'm going to bite the bullet and attack my ignition system this weekend. But first, a question...
I have NGK resistor plugs in the engine now, and I love them. Do resistor plugs require resistor wires? Currently have 5K wires. The shopping list is Cap rotor wires (8+1)

Bosch advise that the plug gap is much more important than the resistance of the HT wires. Can't be sure, but I think I stayed with pre-set gap on plugs - likely 0.030".

Depends on how the ignition system was designed. Most US cars have resistance wires and plugs...designed to operate that way. MB Classic Center does not use the resistor wires in older models; they use the solid wires with resistor ends and NGK BP6ES non-resistor plugs because they can no longer get the original Bosch. I've been using NGKs for more years than I like to admit...fine plugs, great range and durable as hell. I must have 100 on the garage shelf just in case NGK gets silly and stops making them. By the way, correct gap is 0.032", comes pre-set but check it. |
