W115 Turn Signal Not Working

So far the longest time my turn signals had the 'fast blink', Im guessing this meant the relay was going out and finnally it did because the turn signals ceased to work.

So I bought a new relay, my year (70) for the 220D shares the relay for the 'hazard lights' located directly behind the red hazard knob. After installing the new relay I still am not getting a working turn signals but instead get a weird buzzing noise coming from this new relay when I attempt to use the turn signal.

Any ideas what the 'buzzing' means. Could it be a short somewhere? Checked fuse and it checks okay.

Thanks,
Sean

I would check all the ground points, could be some corrosion.

One of the major grounds for the W114 is the brace behind the center console. Check for corrosion or loose connections at the console mounting and at either end of the brace where it attaches to the transmission tunnel or the dash. There should be a large eyelet with three or four wires leading to various components.

Hi Sean, my 220D will buzz and not work on the right turns, sometimes. The problem for my car is in the switch for the turn stalk. Spraying a contact cleaner into the switch fixes the problem for a few months. Ron

fast blink could have meant one or more bad bulbs, have you checked those and the sockets they go into, could be corrosion not allowing contact or ground as suggested
