Squeaking in the right rear wheel well

Here's a little annoyance: Ever since I've had this car there's been a brushing/hissing/rushing sound that seems to come from the right rear wheel. It comes and goes at low speeds but I can generally hear it at higher speeds all the time. More recently I have been hearing a squeaking sound but I think that is just because it's been raining and the breaks discs get corroded a little.

Any ideas.. I have no idea when the axiles were last looked at or lubricated. Could be a worn part? Hasn't gotten any worse but it ruins the nice quiet drive this car would have otherwise.

Exclamation Bearings?

After searching here a bit I have found several messages that lead me to beleive that it may be the bearing. Doesn't sound like a DIY kindof job as I don't have access to a lift of the proper tools.

What might this cost in a shop to fix?

How serious is it?

is there any way I can check this out before taking it to a shop?

Rear wheel bearings are pretty easy to change but it will take you about 2-3 hours the first time and you need some basic tools. But, if you want to take it in to get fixed, you can probably count on being charged for 1-1/2 - 2 hours of labor per side plus $75 - $100 per side for parts.

I found a rear wheel bearing repair kit (123-350-00-68 REAR WHEEL BEARING Repair kit ) for $44.73 per wheel.. sounds good if I can find somembody to install them.

Ok .. if I did decide to do this one myself.. what would I need? I would most likely need some floor stands right? What tools?

Thanks

Adrian

If I remember correctly about the only less conventional tools yo need are a slide hammer to pull the spindle from the hub, dial gauge to set end play, and a socket or wrench (not sure) to turn the castelated spindle nut. I Don't have the details on this tool a hammer and punch is not the right tool however and if I have to do this job I'll have to make something to do it.
