w108 throttle linkage

There seems to be quite of bit of play in my throttle linkage. I saw there are throttle linkage bushings for sale on this site. my question is are they necessary?
how and where are they installed?

Any commentary is well appreciated.

Do replace them ,simply remove the c clip in front that holds the linkage and replace . the slop will be gone and the response will be positive
