Returning just it's exterior as to how it appears with Cliff - would be a worthy project. I believe that Cliff's post(s) here may have related to changing out the orig. wheels. For what reason, I don't know, but wheels are an owner's preference. Personally, I love the look of the car in the picture of Cliff and car. That's a very good picture of the man and his car. BTW, I do remember visiting with the man at past MBCA Quarterly dinners. I found it interesting that he drove the MB-related truck. I didn't really follow the job description as relating to MB.....but that doesn't matter. |
I doubt the seller paid anywhere near $12k for the car, or put significant money into restoration or maintenance.
The Mercedes Benz 300SEL is a very nice car. Subtracting what it would cost to return it to good condition would be a fair price. That amount would be difficult to assess without a thorough pre-purchase inspection. |

What we do know, as per alabassi, and whether the seller knows it or not, is that the car is being MISREPRESENTED as a car with a scant 6,600 miles. That in itself is a big problem. The pictures of it's rather sorry visuals/condition with non-period correct alloys on it, don't tell a very positive story about it though. It's worth nowhere near the asking of $12,500.00 as it sits, with a multi-colored interior, and unflattering engine compartment and exterior pictures - that's a certainty. Sight unseen, my original estimated ballpark of top dollar at $5K stands. |
