My own private local parts yard :)

Not quite. These are shots of some of the cars at my friend's house. Long time Mercedes enthusiast, getting on in years and sorting through/cleaning house. I took these mostly for fun, but I would like to know if they are beyond saving. And who doesn't like looking at pictures of old cars returning to whence they came? I also believe I'm getting a 1982 240D from him that was a driver not too long ago.

First up is the 190D. If only I didn't have so many projects already. 4spd column shift, my favorite MB trans Someone did the rockers years ago, but it's looking pretty rough again.

Here's a 220S. Possibly beyond saving, needs floors, but man what a beautiful car she was.

And last, but not least, Pontons Pontons Pontons! These are for daw_two. I only have pics of this pair. There's a third down the hill a ways that is worse off. These might be worth saving, who knows. Must have been pretty once...

I'll snag a picture of the shed full of engines later

You need to part these out because rust and rot are going to destroy them. At least if you sell them off, others can still use and enjoy them in some capacity.

One man's trash is another man's treasure.

Please part them out or sell them off if you decide to pass on them for yourself.

No, I have a pretty understanding wife, but there's no way these can come to my house. Well, maybe one I'm helping him go through the stash. Part out the ones that are too far gone, sell the ones that might live again. These are just the natural-habitat pictures for people's amusement (or dismay I suppose).

If you part the black 220 I would be interested in the aircon and the radio. Are you located in MD? I'm in DC.

And I'd be interested in either or one of the front doors off the w111 if one or either of them are straight. Mine have had the door checks disconnected and were subsequently opened too far forming a crease. Just saying... :-)

The radios are worth about $100 each if they are stereo and even more if they have the SW and LW bands. That would be in working condition, of course.

If the wood trim is good there is a market for it. The same for the fog lights and tail lights.

If the rear ends are good there will be someone who wants them.

By the way... Where are these located? In what area of the world, I mean.

Wow, I just noticed that bench seat in the w110! Awesome! I wish my w111 had a bench...

Before anyone plans a trip, I fear I may have been a bit flippant with the title. The current owner of these cars wants to clean up and is most interested in seeing complete cars leave. He is concerned about being left with cars too picked-over to persuade the local junkyard to take (they're sticklers for certain things), and about too many people coming over. I am trying to work with him as much as I can, because I want to see him get money back for his parts as well as not see good parts go to the crusher, but in the end these are his cars and I'll have to defer to his decision on parting them out.

The 190D with the bench seat in particular may be a restore-able vehicle (I need to see if the engine turns and how the body appears underneath once extracted).

Before this turns into a free-for-all, which is not my intent, I need to negotiate with the owner. One or more of them may have to end up at my parent's place if an agreement can't be reached I suppose, although that is also not the best idea.

I doubt a missing radio will prevent the car from being accepted at the junkyard. If the cars were to end up at the JY let me know where and I will dash up there and get what I need before they are crushed.

That's my argument to the owner. Items that can't really be noticed (radio, heatercore, dash pieces, trim, etc) won't prevent it from being accepted, though I think the junkyard does deduce a small amount for certain things missing (say $15 for the radio, etc). The junkyard his previous cars have ended up at is the Crazy Ray's u-pull-it in Mt. Airy, MD. Although, frankly, if it comes down to that I may have to take other measures to save the cars, or atleast certain parts of them. Worst case I can let someone know when they're leaving. They certainly won't be crushed immediately, and this yard does not pull any of their own parts that I know of so they won't butcher the cars too badly in the mean time (the same cannot be said for other customers however).
