Fuel tank vent location '77 300D

All,
I have a collapsed fuel tank and am getting a replacement. In an effort to check the vent system I found the bell shaped fitting on the end of the vent line and traced it back to the tank. I do not however see and actual vent valve anywhere. The line goes straight to the tank. I can't find a location on line anywhere so I hope you all can help.

Thank you inadvance!

I'm not sure if the diesels use a vent valve or not, but on the gassers it is located left side under the rear passenger footwell.

yes if it is there just a little line with a diamond, bell shaped apperatus on the end for gassers, but I dont think the diesels have it,

Your gas tank collapsed from vacuum??

No actual valve or anything like that, just the vent line.

Yep, tank was pretty badly collapsed, started leaking at the welds.

I'll snap a pic or two and attach later.

Thanks for the help everyone.
