Glow Plugs and Turn Signals

I replaced the glow plugs in my 79 300D. I noticed that the interconnects glow a dull red until the timer shuts off. I had cleaned the connections, I doubt I have a bad connection. I put a light amount of copper anti seize grease on them, and the glow plug threads. Also I removed the in line fuse and cleaned the connections. Any ideas?
My signals fail to work every once in a while. I checked the fuses and I checked the signal switch for continuity. The connections look clean. When the signals were disfunctional, the hazard lights worked. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I've found that poor ground connections will cause all sorts of strange problems. Sometimes a mixed up wire will cause things to back feed which really creates very strange problems.
Check your grounds first then move on to other areas.

I believe that the flasher switch was partially engaged, and that disabled the signals. I pushed it in and out a cople of times and they are working. I will look for an engine ground. I did remove the glow plug ground cable and clean the terminals.

I checked the voltage across the glow plugs as outlined the Haynes manual. They state .75 to 1.25V. Cylinders #4 and 5 read 1V, but after that the series is dead.
