VIN decyphering

Any help with an old VIN on an as-yet-unseen, potential-parts car (for $150) that I've been offered? I don't know the year or model but it sounds like an early '70's 250S. Any help IDing this car's year? I am looking to find several parts to, hopefully, use on my 1971 250/8

108.012-12-072108 is the number.

Help's always appreciated!!

According to http://fly.hiwaay.net/~gbf/mbmodels.html

It's a 66-67 250S. Some of the body parts might work. For $150 it shouldn't be too much of a risk.

Although there will be parts , the 114 chassis [ your250/8] and the 108 chassis are actually quite different as far as drive train, suspension, trans , etc.
The 108's were the last of the swing axle rear end and king pin
[ vs ball joints]front ends. Also enclosed axle vs. open, etc.
Simular looking , but many parts one would expect to be inter-changeable are not..
But for that kind of $$$$, I would still grab it.

Outside of some engine parts, I don't think that you will find much in common between these cars. I had a 108 280S parts car and there wasn't a lot that I could use.

Ya'll are the best!!
It is amazing how generous you all are with information, help and research time spent helping us "beginners".
This car probably won't be of much help to me and I would like to pass it on to someone else who might REALLY need it. Anyone interested??
Again, thanks for your help!
