No A/C... It's sad to see such nice 116's so cheap (at least if you're if the owner of a nice 450SEL it is...).

Best Regards,

David

A/C could be retrofitted if you wanted. More of a problem might be smog. But I think the real problem would be rust.

Looks like something popped & sprayed all in the engine compartment. Maybe an A/C line?

Peter, I don't think a car that old is subjected to smog tests. At least I know it isn't here in TX.

Jeff, I agree, it looks like something blew up under the hood. Since it doesn't have A/C perhaps one of the oil cooler lines leaked or blew apart?

Best Regards,

David

In CA, I think 1975 is the cutoff. If it is well tuned I don't think smog is a problem.

It's a CA car with a blue plate so you have to WORK to make it rust which is why CA is such a car haven.

I have never had a problem even with my 6.9 although the cats are still on it.

It was originally a Euro car which is why I'd be suspicious of rust. That and the fact that it also looks like the rockers panels have been repainted at some stage. Which makes me wary of what else might be hiding in various places.

I think this is a better deal than the posting actually indicates.

This is no 76. This is a 74 or 75. Look at the underhood pic, on the right. No, not the Vette. The MAP sensor. High compression euro 4.5 underhood...

possible euro "76 450sel c/l los angeles

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/cto/2194302188.html

cloth seats, euro bumpers, might be?

doesn't look perfect (rear bumper funky, rust on interior of hood, and engine compartment looks odd) and i doubt the mileage claim.

no affiliation.

There was a recent thread about this very car where several members discussed it at length. I believe Al started it (may have been Curtis--diametricalbenz).

The mileage is off because they would have installed a "standard" speedo when the car was brought to the US, thus altering the mileage. Truth be told, I think it would actually be a pretty cool car.

Best Regards,

David
