I love the drive!

Lately I have not been doing many semi longer drives in my ol 220D. Yesterday I was able to take it out. I just love that way that car drives. Brings a smile to my face. Just wanted to share

While I've been struggling through the love-hate stage of rehabilitating it, the bottom line is that I too really love driving my 220d, so its very nice to hear someone else experience the same.

25 miles in the last 15 months, 30 miles today!

until just recently, my '72 220d has been garaged for suspension + driveline rehab, the renewal of various rubber bushings/mounts and extensive metalwork and paint.

over a couple hours today i managed to clock some 30 miles and topped out at about 75 glorious mph.

no power steering, no sunroof, just the basics. what a dreamboat! it's gonna be a /eight summer.

Thumbs up

Took a run to Las Vegas, NV from Dallas, Texas in late January. Loved it! Need to do miore of it! I do it for work and play, so it's incredibly fun taking off on a 1,250 miles one-way drive in my diesel car! Ha!

These old cars drive really well for their age. You have the old solid feel of a W108 but with modern handling. I've been driving my 76 300D daily for the last couple of weeks and it's been fun. Last weekend, I took my 280CE around the block for a little work out and holy cow that car can move!

Keep on truckin!

There are some times when I'd park the 300D for the weekend and drive the 190E the whole time, and when I'd get back to the W123 it'd be a blast. It's such a different ride and feel.

Same feeling I had when I got back from a vacation overseas in 2008 (man it's been that long?).

Yup, there's just something about the W114/W115 cars....

I just love to look over the hood and still able to make out defined fender shapes, and have the proud star perched up on top of the radiator grille, where it belongs.

Ever notice, on a dark night, when you turn on the headlights, they faintly illuminate the star?

Even all these years later, the door still just snicks closed, I think she's a keeper......

Now, if my coupe only had a sunroof, it'd be perfect! I keep thinking about installing one of these:

I know what you mean. I have a 2010 VW TDI which is a fantastic car but the old Benz feel is something else. There's nothing better than a late night drive in either old benz on the highways of the wine country when all the traffic has subsided
