K4A025 and the diesel engine!
Hello everyone! I have a great hunger for knowledge, so help JA17 or someone!
An idea: I sometimes think to myself about replacing my W108 250S carburettor engine with the older OM617, which I bought 2. Just in case. And run it with olive oil or something. A but: I have the K4A025 automatic transmission, and there´s a solenoid which operates both the kick-down and "slow-down". It gets the essential "slow-down" signal from "Idle switch" in front carburettor in gasoline engines.. But from where does it get in diesel engines? Or is the "Idle switch" even necessary with diesel engines? |
A 617 is a great idea. Running on olive oil in the Finnish climate is probably not going to work very well. Also, if I were swapping a 108 over from gas to diesel, I would also include a manual transmission in the swap.

I also would prefer the manual transmission, but the car is with beautifully working steering wheel selector..

..And the "olive oil" is actually "turnip rape oil". Turnip rape - it cultivated widely here, even if it sounds like a bad rock band! :)
