Searhcing for 1972 W108 rubber bumper pads

I have been looking low and high for rubber bumper pads, but I have only found new items from Mercedes new parts dealers, at pretty high prices. Wow - the price is high.

While on the topic of rubber, I am also looking for door threshold rubber as well.

Any suggestions on where I can find these pads, would be greatly appreciated.

I have attached a few photos of my problem with rubber. Everyone loves pictures!

Classic center or one of your larger mb parts dealers, like millermbz, dbdepot.de. probably not going to be cheap.

Upright bassist by chance?

*'friends' of the classic center on Facebook are provided w a monthly 'code' word that's good for 10% off parts.

I just bought the door seal rubber from the classic center. They were a little over $120 for all 4. If you have the SE you will have to trim a few inches from the rear ones. You may not find a useable set any where else. The trim on the bumbers may be found on a parts car but the fastening screws on the corners are so rusty they are not useable. Your car looks really nice so I would recomend just buying the new ones from the classic center even though they are expensive. If you are an MBCA member you save 15% of list price.

Try Adsitco

This was used on so many vehicles. It is sold in lengths, you have to take the bumper off to install it correctly and put in your own holes if there are vertical bumper guards.

I bought one for a W114 from them a year ago and I don't think the price was too bad. Certainly < $100; I think it might have been around $50.

I recently bought the driver's threshold cover for my '71 280SE. The part # is 108 686 0180 7003. 7003 is the color code, and you need to include that number for these covers to show as available on Mercedes parts websites. 7003 is for the very dark gray that would appear to match your car.

I was also surprised at the expense of new W108 bumper rubber -- there was a steep price increase just a few months ago. With patience you will probably find good used ones at used MB parts places or eBay, where I bought mine.

I parted out a 108 several years ago and have a box of parts I'd like to go to someone who might have a use for them See http://sites.google.com/site/mercedesstuff/home/280s-parts
