W114 direction indicator blinking rate
Can anyone tell me what is the normal blinking rate of the turn signal light? 2~3 blinks per second?

Sounds too fast, check to see if all the lights are illuminated.

I have a similar problem with my 76 300D. All lights work but I think that I need to either clean the contacts or replace the bulbs.

My 70 220D blinks very fast, I asked my dad about it, he gave me the car he said it has allways been like that. all the lights work. Now that i think about it the side marker lights are not hooked up, mabey thats the problem. On my 76 240D the side marker lights do work and I get the normal blink.

The marker lights are independent of the turn signals. Jim

A burned out bulb or a "heavy duty" bulb can cause too fast blinking. Maybe corrosion in the socket or on the connector, a bad solder joint. Basically things that affect the resistance in the circuit from normal can affect the speed.

A fast blink is most likely a issue with the relay under the dash if the bulbs are good and all contacts are clean.

The 68-69 were reflectors only, 70 - 76 had lights. Both appear the same from the outside, the lighted ones required an additional hole in the fender for the wiring. Jim

I have bulbs in the 70, over the weekend i took the side marker lites off the 76 240D and put them on the 70 220D the lights did not light up, they worked on the 76 i am not geting power, i checked with a test light, o well there are in better shape.
I also checked the blinker bulbs in the tale light there is a big dab of solder on the end of the bulb, that may be causing the fast blink.

Ah, but you are all missing the possibly correct answer! Defective hazard switch. The hazard switch on my 1971 250 C went bad. I acquired several additional used ones. Some caused really slow blink, some really fast blinking, some no blinking, and some just the blinker would stay on. I finally bought one new via "that place" in Arizona.
