Anyone used Timevalve exhaust?

I need a center muffler(resonator) for my 1979 280CE, i have been running with some generic resonators or something that my local shop put in place of my rusted out original resonator mated to my stock MB muffler when they replaced all my rusted pipes. I absolutely hate the new sound and im sick of it, i want that old Mercedes M110 sound back.

MB wants around 300 for a new resonator, i'll pay that if i have to...

However timevalve has a stainless steel resonator forsale, i need to call and check on price tomorrow.

Does the timevalve exhaust sound like the stock Mercedes exhaust system? This is my largest concern.

Thanks

Stewart

I've got a timevalve system on my 84 280SL.

No complaints.

Timevalve is stainless. I've heard they are good quality but I doubt that they will sound the same as the original system. In most cases, stainless systems usually sound a little sportier.

I bought a full MB exhaust for my '68 280se for less than a timevalve. I have a great discount going with MB now and it made it cheaper than timevalve and its OEM. I'm sure they can hook you up a discount

I've "heard" the same line.

Mine is quiet, hard to tell any difference between the M110 SL with timevalve, and my 82 M110 280E with a stock system.

I had MB Canada replace the complete exhaust on my '85 300D in January 1998. Done about 100k miles since then and it is still in good shape. Don't know what it would cost today, but it was C$680 back then incl $100 labour - only about 10% more than the cheap aftermarket shops. Prior to this I had two cheap mufflers replaced each of which lasted about 2 years. Pipes were original when replaced.

The OE MB pipes are much thicker and better made than the aftermarket ones. I thought about going to S/S at that time, but cost was significantly higher.

I have heard that Timevalve make a good product, but can't see justification except for daily driver that sees a lot of salt. Still, we don't have to justify everything!

IIRC a few guys at the sl113.org board had Timevalve systems installed and have discussed their impressions, worth a peek over there.

I have a Timevalve system on my W113. For sure a bit louder than stock. Not a bad thing on an SL, (And no problems with the system) but not If you want it to sound original.
