AC temp control

I have a 72 300 sel. Is the AC compressor still supposed to cycle with the temp control on "max" (labeled, oddly, "city"), or is my temp control defective?

depends, if she is cold inside ( relative term with MB AC) then yes , if not up to temp and coming on /off I'd first check charge then temp control

These old temp controls are also adjustable by a set screw on the back of the unit.
