'72 250C 114 relay question

My turn signals light up but no blinking; none with hazard either; before I tear into it is the relay behind the hazard knob meaning remove the center console? Love this car, I have some welding to do and likely some transmission work (auto 3 spd). Any help with the relay is appreciated.

The odds are it IS the relay behind the pull flasher knob. First, clean and rotate all the fuses, second, check to ensure you have the correct wattage bulbs in the lights, third, when you pull the console make sure you have a good ground/earth connection. This will be the eyelet leading to the left side dash brace. The ground is usually about 75% of all the "phantom" electrical problems dash/console wise.

Most of the time a good cleaning with a contact cleaner will solve the problem but sometimes you have to open the relay up to clean the gunk. Go gently in the night here. 40 year old circuit boards are fragile.

As an aside, you probably have a 4 speed automatic. 1st gear is not usually engaged. To double check, start out with the shifter all the way back and shift up through the gears.

On my 73, the flasher relay is to the left of the steering column. Mine were blinking too fast and I replaced that relay to fix it. The 4 way flasher assembly can be worn and prevent all lights to flash. Try repeatedly pushing the 4 way button to see if the turn signals start working again.

First clean all indicator light bulb connectors in front and back. You may have a bad contact. That also causes no or slow blinking due to poor current flow (if current does not flow from relay, relay timing will not work as far as I know). Happens especially after car has been sitting for a while and oxidation accumulates on contacts. I have had this happen on my MGs over the years and some cleaning and wiggling of bulbs fixes it.

My Mercedes occasionally freezes (once a month) but it seems to be a stalk-hazard switch bad contact issue that is solved by switching either one on and off.

While I agree to clean the contacts, seldom do all of them malfunction at once. You have a problem getting power to any bulb so logic says flasher relay, 4 way flasher or wiring to them.

Cleaned every bulb contact as well as relay and ground and still only get one internal click with hazard switch and turn signal so I assume it is time for a relay; so two questions:
1. Who has a diagram for the relay indicating which pins are power ground and then turn signal.
2. Other than the usual sources does anyone have a special source for the relays and other brands than Bosch if any?

Have you tried the hazard flasher function?

I believe this used the same flasher relay so that would be a good test to see if it flashes.

If it DOES flash, then the problem may be a simple contact issue inside the hazard flasher unit that you could fix by opening it.

Yes I did and the same result one click and that is it. I was hoping to pick up a used one or two from someone yet so far no luck. Thank you for the idea.
