W123 outer door handle repair
 

The outer door handle on my '79 W123 is showing some age. The metal cover which should cover up the keyhole when the key is not in it does not close, stay wide open all the time.

Also when the key is inserted and turned there is a spring back to return the key to the vertical position.

Is there anyway that I can replace what ever springs may have broken inside the unit?

I totally understand the problem; unfortunately have no solution to offer.
Same thing is happening from wear on my '77 driver lock;
last weekend the flap cover sprang back to life long enough to cover the hole so well that it would NOT give to let the key enter:(

Finally got is pushed back out of the way to rust in the corner.

If you find a reasonable answer to fix these please share!
