Post NEW 72 280se I6 owner

Hello all, I'm new to this forum and thank you for all the helpfull links and tips to diagnose some problems I already had confronted with my new "Girlfriend".

1972
w108 White with Red MBTex
i6 2.8l automatic transmission
154k miles on odo, most likely true, as I highly doubt it'd passed it twice into 200k+ base on the condition.

The price was a bit steep, but the moment I stood up from inspecting under her skirt I wanted it!

Interior was immaculate, everything original, everything works! AC ice cold, all gauges and lights, plus the awesome manual windows.
Exterior is in really good shape, aside from the rock chipping over the front end, and the paint starring on the hood, she looks good. Eventually I'll strip her and give her a new coat.
Mechanics are strong, gear selector notches into gear instantaneously, steering tight with less than 1 inch of play, brand new bilstein shocks and all the ball joints and bushings look really good. Flex disc looks new too.

Meanwhile, I've disabled the central vacuum locking by capping off the hose at the manifold, recored a leaking radiator, adjusted timing, and fixed a leaking csv (from 11mpg to 15mpg). I've also took off the hidious and massive SACRED bumper add-ons. (unfortunately, leaving the mounting holes in the rubber strips.)

More to come along with some pictures!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your recent purchase. I am not posting much at the moment due to I have not started to "wrench" on my 76 280C yet. It's been sitting for over two years now. It's a great forum with a lot of knowledgeable listers, I visit it on a daily basis.

Welcome to the W108 club!

White with red interior sounds like a wonderful color combination. I'd love to see pics.

I have a red 4.5 with a black interior.

Do you still have the car? What could possibly catch your interest after this car?

- Peter.

suppose it is difficult to compare with the 108, but other interests i have are pickups, convertibles, diesels, porsches, bmws, and oddly enough, station wagons.

GFR. sounds like a very nice car. have you herd about the 123 ignition system they make for your model. if not here is a link for it http://brooklyn300.com/introducing123 great thing to invest in. i bet it could bump up gas mileage up at least to 18 and add power. I'm very impressed with it. you should check it out.
