Help me diagnose this Oil Leak, 1975 w115 300D

Pictures Below, I assume I am looking at the oil pan, right?

Anyway, seeing that I haven't bought ramps yet or floor jacks, I laid down on the ground and took the Iphone and took a couple of picture, where it seems Oil is coming down.

Anyone know what is happening here? The oil leak on the left side, where you see it wet.

Looks like the oil filter O ring is leaking.

Is this a easy fix, etc? Sorry if my question sounds simple, I am a novice at this, but eager to learn.

Thanks

those cannister oil filter shells are very tricky to get on correctly. Of course they leak if you don't and it is very easy to get the center bolt cross threaded. Cross your fingers and hope yours is not buggered up.

Do Oil Change outlets change these things? I would try myself, but I don't have a lift.

Thanks

Look at the top of the oil filter head, it's right below the IP.
Any oil leaks?
With the engine running, get under the car with a flash light and a rag.
Clean the oil of the oil filter canister all the way aruond the top.
Observe for leaks.
To remove the oil filter canister, loosen the 17 mm bolt on the bottom.
Some oil will come out.
Remove the O ring and inspect it for damage.
Inspect the lip on the can, where the o ring sits for any damage or bends.
Also check the aluminum oil filter head on the block, in the area where the O ring contacts it.
If every thing looks allright, install the can with a new O ring.
Don't tighten the 17 mm bolt until you have checked that the can is seated correctly in the oil filter head.
Use your flash light to see that the can contacts the head evenly all around.

My challenge is I don't have a lift or the ability to get under the car, so can a Speedee Oil Change do this change for me?

they can, but those on this forum mostly dont trust them. However if they take thier time it is an easy R/R . Most important is the oil filter housing placement, easy to get out of wack and as mentioned cross threaded. Torques are low on bolt and cannister and theses places tend to over tighten. May be best to find a local garage that has some mechanics that are "older" and more seasoned.

Well that make sense, I would try a DIY, but at this time, but don't have a lift/ramp set up.

Thanks guys for the direction, took to a local guy (71 years young) who only does oil changes, he let me stand next to him as he changed the filter and oil.

It took care of the leak, a little around a hose, but nothing on the ground.

He only charged me $35 on top of that.
